I’m William Bloom – I’m an author and educator and I consider myself to be spiritual rather than religious - that’s one of the reasons why I’m putting ‘HOLISTIC’ in the Religion Box on the UK’s 2011 Census. OPEN HEARTED, OPEN MINDED? The UK government sends out a Census every 10 years. If you live in the UK, you will be asked this year to fill in the Census form and that must be done by 27 March. One of the questions on the census is What Is Your Religion? If your approach to spirituality is open hearted, open minded and respects the essence of all traditions, then I hope you too will consider putting ‘HOLISTIC’ in the Census Religion Box. WHAT, WHERE & HOW? You can listen in to the webinars from the comfort of your own home! All you need is your computer and/or telephone. If you’ve not attended a webinar before – it’s like a teleconference with slides, so all you do is log on and listen and watch online through your computer – or you can dial in and listen by phone. It’s easy to do and we give you full instructions. You will get the best results if you listen online, ideally using a headset. Author and educator William Bloom explains why you might wish to consider putting ‘holistic’ in the Religion box on the UK Census 2011, so you can have your democratic voice heard. The webinar will offer the opportunity to ask questions and give your comments and feedback. 8pm Wednesday 16 March 2011 Using your democratic voice to make a difference Author and educator William Bloom, stand up philosopher Tim Freke and interfaith seminary director Nicola Coomb explain why they believe it’s so important to use your democratic voice. You are encouraged to participate in our interactive question and answer session for your questions, queries, feedback and comments In this webinar, the panel will also be joined by Paul Allin from the Measuring National Well-Being Programme, part of the Office of National Statistics. The Programme is gathering information and conducting a national debate about the nation’s ‘quality-of-life’. That includes the elements of life that matter to people most. Paul will pose the question “How important is your spirituality to your well being?” and share information on how, by using your democratic voice, you could help to shape future policy in areas such as health and education.
